STARCRAFT 2 RELEASE DATE
Last Updated: April 20, 2010

When will StarCraft 2 come out?
Okay, so GameStop is making jokes again, promising us that the game we have been expecting for the last decade will be released on June 15, this year. We fell for that one once, not anymore! Unless, of course Diablo 3 launches before StarCraft 2, in which case we can all take our PCs and throw them out the window. Click for more StarCraft 2 News...

StarCraft Release - Not in 2009!
Bad news guys! We will definitely not going to play StarCraft 2 this year (2009). That's a shame, because we were really looking forward to get our hands on this game and smash some Zerg heads. While you wait, why don't you change the pace a little bit and relax with a Heroes browser game instead? Com'on, Asgard is calling out for heroes! Do you have what it takes?

The summer round of Gamestop flyers, freely available at any of their retail locations, were advertising a June 2, 2009 as Starcraft 2 release date. Apparently, they were full of shit! No one really knows the launch date.

In a live interview from DreamHack, the world's largest computer festival, lead designer Chris Sigaty, sitting at Blizzard HQ in California, answered in front of 7000 people, the eternal question about the StarCraft 2 release date, revealing that they're aiming for this year. And that's news because... "However, we're not going to ship the game if it's not ready," Sigaty also stated. So, expect to be release this year or the next, to put it blatantly.

And then he took his time to explain that it took nearly six years since the release of the Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne for StarCraft 2 to be ready, because they started from zero and didn't want to use any previous technology. This year's release is such great news... except that it's not. If I had to choose, I choose to have the Single Player part of the game first, and let them balance the Multiplayer all they want. However, they'd better hurry because in 2012 the end of the world happens, you know, and then it's useless to desire anything else, like wanting to play World of StarCraft for eg..

Anyway, Blizzard's first installment Wings of Liberty will feature a playable campaign from the Terran perspective, but will also release the other two races (Zerg and Protoss) to be able to participate in multiplayer games. Great news!

In StarCraft 2, players will have some significant choices to make, not only as to the order in which they tackle missions in the campaign, but also which units and technologies they want to release as they proceed. The campaign follows the Terrans and focuses on the exploits of Jim Raynor as he undertakes mercenary missions throughout the galaxy.

What we know for sure is that a StarCraft 2 Beta is said to be getting underway very soon. So far, Starcraft 2 simply looks marvelous and it's unbelievable the game is only in alpha, no Beta release date being confirmed at this point.

The Starcraft 2 release dates for the other two expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, are unknown. Blizzard states that each expansion pack will have enough content to feel like a full game on its own. We're looking forward at least for a StarCraft 2 Demo.

Starcraft 2 is being developed for concurrent release on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac. According to its creators, Starcraft 2 is designed to be the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game, building on the successes enjoyed by its predecessor, StarCraft. It has been confirmed that the Xel'Naga, the ancient space-faring race responsible for creating the Protoss and the Zerg, play a major role in the story. In the mean time, enjoy the Battle Report 4.

STARCRAFT 2 BETA OPT-INS!
It's official folks! Only hours ago, Blizzard Entertainment "dropped the hammer and dispensed some indiscriminate justice" over the StarCraft 2 community when they announced, via the World of WarCraft site, that they are now accepting opt-ins for the StarCraft 2 Beta.

To sign up for the beta, you'll need to register a Battle.net account and send Blizzard a snapshot of your system specs. The beta is apparently "coming in the months ahead" and will be multiplayer-only, but if you're a StarCraft fan you'd better get "ready to roll out!" If you'd like a chance to participate, now's the time to let us know, says Blizzard.

Periodically, Blizzard provides Q&A batches and podcasts. To stay in-touch with the latest news on StarCraft 2 Release Date, make sure you visit StarCraft 2 Beta portal. If there's something worth mentioning, you'll hear it from us first!
